The Government Dance College was set up with the purpose of imparting knowledge on the classical and traditional dances of Manipur. The College admits students who have passed eight standards. Though there is no Performing Unit of the College, the students of this college are exposed to many programmes in the national level. In order to provide proper education in the field of Dance at the national standard, several components like Library, Audio-Visual Room, Performing Unit and Classes with adequate infrastructures were developed under the Special Plan Assistance, 2007-08.

The college provides certificate and Visharad courses in Manipuri dance.
